The VIC Tech investment model sources promising life science innovations directly from top universities globally, providing early-stage capital to launch startups, advance core technologies, and drive them toward acquisition. Beyond funding, VIC operates a comprehensive venture development ecosystem that equips its portfolio companies with dedicated executive management, operations, marketing, accounting, and scientific support.
To further expand this ecosystem, VIC is launching its sixth class of the VIC Fellows Program. The program immerses participants in evaluating emerging life science technologies, building venture theses, and supporting the formation and commercialization of new portfolio companies.
Designed for graduate students (PhD, MD, MBA), postdoctoral fellows, and early- to mid-career professionals, the program provides a direct pathway for those seeking to transition into venture capital, private equity, investment banking, corporate development, technology transfer, or entrepreneurship.
We are pleased to highlight the new class of VIC Fellows:
Shreya Patel, MD, MPH – Senior Fellow: Dr. Patel is a physician and commercial leader with experience across public and private healthcare systems. At Sanofi, she led vaccine and oncology product launches, developed UK and US go-to-market strategies, and secured national tender wins, later driving portfolio strategy in immunology across multiple early-stage assets. She began her career as a practicing physician in the UK and transitioned into life sciences to bridge scientific innovation and real-world impact, with interests in women’s health, preventive health, and the role of AI in future health systems. She holds an MD from University College London and an MPH from Harvard.
Sharath Sundararaj, PhD - Senior Fellow: Dr. Sundararaj is a biomedical professional with a PhD in biomedical engineering and over a decade of industry experience developing advanced medical devices and combination products. She has deep expertise in designing preclinical models to accelerate translational research, de-risk early concepts, and guide product strategy across orthopedics, spine, neurovascular, wound healing, plastic surgery, and regenerative medicine. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she has a strong record of leading cross-functional R&D, navigating regulatory pathways, and supporting quality systems that enable scalable innovation.
Anastasia Galochkina, MBA - Fellow: Galochkina is a strategic operator and investor with dual degrees in Biotechnology (MS) and Finance (MBA) from Johns Hopkins University, alongside CFA certification. She brings deep expertise in PE/VC investment execution, scientific diligence, and venture building across biotech, deep tech, and advanced materials. Her leadership background spans directing multi-billion-dollar buyouts and family office life science investments to advising early-stage founders on capital formation, technology licensing, and commercialization strategies. Combining scientific literacy with extensive board governance and deal-structuring experience, she specializes in translating complex innovation into scalable business models and high-growth ventures.
Shruti Prasad, MBA - Fellow: Prasad is a healthcare and life sciences business professional with an MBA from the University of Michigan (Ross) and an MS in Pharmaceutical Science. She brings nearly a decade of combined experience spanning pharmaceutical R&D, venture capital, and venture operations. At Pfizer, she led formulation development and tech transfer for 15 sterile injectable therapies, authored FDA regulatory filings, and supported critical process parameters for COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing. Her background combines deep technical expertise in drug development and manufacturing scale-up with hands-on venture capital diligence, startup business development, and global health supply chain research.
Shashank Raina, PhD - Fellow: Shashank is a medical device leader with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and 15+ years of experience advancing technologies from concept to commercialization. As VP of R&D at Zidan Medical, he leads clinical and development activities for an RF ablation lung cancer platform. His expertise spans catheter-based therapies, cardiovascular devices, and drug delivery across startups and major medtech companies, including Medtronic and St. Jude Medical. Combining engineering and clinical research, he also advises early-stage ventures on product strategy, feasibility, and translation.
Ninadini Sharma, PhD - Fellow: Dr. Sharma is a life science venture creation and translational innovation professional with a PhD in molecular biology and extensive research experience across human embryo development, reproductive aging, and women's health. A Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech, she brings deep expertise in evaluating early-stage technologies, managing university and clinical collaborations, and translating complex science into actionable investment and commercialization strategies. Her background combines advanced research fluency with formal venture capital training, grant writing success—having secured over $742,000 in non-dilutive funding—and hands-on diligence experience across early-stage biotech and healthtech ventures.
