Enhance Diagnostics Wins $25K Pediatric Device Prize for Innovative Breath-Based Diagnostic Tool

EnhanceDx

EnhanceDiagnosticsEnhance Diagnostics has been awarded a $25,000 prize from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Advances in Therapeutics and Technology (SOATT) and the Southwest National Pediatric Device Innovation Consortium (SWPDC). This award highlights the company’s pioneering at-home breath-based diagnostic device, designed to rapidly detect hyperammonemia and urea cycle disorders (UCDs) in pediatric patients.

The device offers a non-invasive solution for monitoring ammonia levels, addressing the critical needs of children with UCDs, who require meticulous and frequent monitoring to prevent hyperammonemia, a life-threatening condition. Enhanced Diagnostics' platform provides quantitative, real-time patient data at home, reducing the need for frequent blood tests and in-person clinic visits.

"Our breath test allows both CKD and UCD patients to monitor their conditions with ease and accuracy," said Matthew Leming, CSO of Enhance Diagnostics. "By offering a non-invasive, cost-effective, and real-time solution, we aim to improve patient care and reduce the burden on families and healthcare systems."

For chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, proper management of metabolic waste is essential. Enhance Diagnostics' technology shows a strong correlation between breath ammonia and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels in CKD patients, promising better home monitoring solutions without invasive blood tests.

The AAP SOATT x SWPDC Pediatric Device Prizes are awarded to companies addressing the unmet needs in pediatric device development. Enhance Diagnostics' win underscores its commitment to improving pediatric healthcare through cutting-edge innovation.
